The candiru, (Vandellia cirrhosa), is a scaleless, parasitic catfish of the family Trichomycteridae found in the Amazon River is translucent and eellike, and it grows to a length of about cm (1 inch). The candiru feeds on blood and is commonly found in the gill cavities of other fishes. Port Townsend is more of an artsy, almost hippie town but with a great historical downtown area. Port Ludlow is much smaller, about 1/10th, but more expensive, with a lot of well-off retirees. Port Townsend is an easier drive to shopping in Sequim, while Port Ludlow is a quicker trip to Seattle, if you want major entertainment.
